Trinamool MLA shoots out mouth on party extortion
Burdwan, West Bengal, Nov 4 (IBNS) A ruling Trinamool Congress MLA of West Bengal at a party gathering caught on camera claimed that some in the outfit are extorting money from businessmen in the south Bengal district of Burdwan by sending envelopes with a chit mentioning the amount they would cough up.
The party, battling the Saradha ponzi meltdown scam and the Burdwan blast aftermath and its terror connection, was caught on the wrong foot again with legislator Tapan Chatterjee making the claim and holding that he had submitted the complaint to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself as well as other senior leaders like Mukul Roy, Partha Chatterjee, Subrata Bakshi.
Chatterjee made the comment in an internal meeting in Burdwan district.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is a growing opposition force in West Bengal now, was quick to react with a central spokesperson saying that the TMC is promoting extortion and terrorism in the state.
"It is a mafia raj in West Bengal," he said.
No official reaction from TMC has come yet.
